Suji Somasundaram
Suji Somasundaram, PhD, PE, GE
President and Principal Engineer

Dr. Suji Somasundaram has 42 years of experience in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering services, including siting, investigations, design and construction quality assurance (CQA) for large public works and infrastructure projects including investigation and mitigation of liquefaction and landslide hazards, design of expansion and closures of solid waste containment facilities, remediation and final closure of Superfund hazardous waste sites, investigations for tunnels and pipelines, and ground improvement and foundation design for waste water treatment plants and industrial facilities.

He has led multidisciplined project teams on investigations, design and construction monitoring projects at some of the largest municipal solid waste landfills in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial and Kern Counties, the OII, Casmalia and WDI Superfund sites, and at military bases in southern and central California. He has managed geotechnical services on public works improvement/expansion projects including the Puente Hills MRF, the Tulare Lake biosolids composting facility, the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant expansion, and the San Jose Creek and Valencia wastewater treatment plants.

He has extensively interfaced with multiple regulatory agencies, including USEPA, DTSC, US Army COE, State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB), and RWQCB’s in multiple regions. He has served as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UCLA and has authored several publications related to evapotranspirative covers, landslide remediation and ground improvement.
